Spencer and Katelyn’s wedding was back on November 1st in Chicago. If you’re from the midwest, you might remember that it snowed for the first time this winter like the day before. I’m not going to lie, I was sweating a little the day before because I knew Katelyn had scheduled a two-hour block of time for outdoor photos at the Lincoln Park Zoo Nature Boardwalk. As I was driving closer to Chicago the night before, it just kept snowing harder. BUT, the weather gods were on our side because come wedding day, most of the snow melted and it wasn’t as cold as we were all expecting!
I met up with Spencer and Katelyn at their hotel as they were getting ready before we headed to the zoo. They rented a trolley and it was such a fun time…I highly recommend if you’re planning on taking any photos at a location separate from your venue.
We did a first look right outside the hotel before hopping on the trolley. This is Katelyn and her wedding planner, Rachael. Rachael of Rachael Steacy Events is the bomb dot com and if you are from Chicago you NEED to hire her. Easily one of the best planners I’ve had the pleasure of working with!
Man, do I LOVE me a city wedding. I, of course, love shooting in nature…but the city is my JAM.
See what I mean? FUN!
I’d never been to the Lincoln Park Zoo before this day. It was incredible! I can only imagine what it looks like in the Spring/Summer. At first, we were worried it would be a little too far during rush hour to make it happen, but, I’m so glad we did!
I had also never been to the Bridgeport Art Center before their ceremony so I had looked up some photos of the venue beforehand. I saw this area next to the building outside (which you can actually rent for your ceremony when it’s warm) and I knew we HAD to go check it out.
